From baking treats to learning new languages, Kira Libby Robertson ’25 has always embraced challenges at Castilleja. As a senior, she’s now ready to take on the world with the passion, resilience and confidence she’s built over the past seven years. Robertson’s journey has been all about exploring new passions and pushing her boundaries. Whether it’s experimenting with new recipes or immersing herself in the complexities of foreign languages, she’s always eager to try something new.
Throughout her time at Castilleja, Robertson has blossomed in more ways than one. As a younger student, she was more reserved, often preferring the quiet of the library. Now, she’s eager to take on leadership roles and seize new opportunities. “I’ve gotten a lot more confident,” she said. “I’ve started participating in more clubs and generally trying more new things, like sports and harder classes.”
Robertson’s love for languages began early on with French and Chinese, but her adventures truly took off when she traveled and connected with different cultures. “I started in French, but I’ve been learning Chinese since I was really little,” she said. “And recently I started studying Korean.” A trip to South Korea inspired her to teach herself Korean, adding to her growing repertoire of French and Mandarin. Beyond just speaking the languages, Robertson has developed a deep interest in East Asian culture, which has shaped her desire to pursue East Asian Studies in college.
When asked about her biggest influences, Robertson immediately thought of her mom, who has been a constant source of support throughout her life. When she faced struggles or doubts, her mom was always there to offer encouragement. Robertson also credits her friends for their positive impact: “My friends are all so accomplished, but also so kind.” Beyond simply offering support, they push her to be her best and show her kindness and generosity.
If there’s one thing Robertson has learned from her time at Castilleja, it’s this: “You can do hard things.” Success isn’t handed to you on a silver platter—it’s something you have to work for. But if you put in the effort, there’s no limit to what you can achieve.
As Robertson prepares to graduate from Castilleja, she leaves with a mind open to new possibilities. Her love for languages, passion for East Asian culture and belief that nothing is impossible when you chase your dreams will continue to guide her in the years ahead. The future is bright—and Robertson is ready to make the most of it.
